Bee Pollen FAQ

Product Information

What is Bee Pollen?
Bee pollen has been valued for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine, Egyptian culture, and Greek herbal practices as a natural tonic to enhance vitality and longevity, often referred to as “nature’s perfect food,” bee pollen was consumed by ancient civilizations for its energizing properties and was believed to support endurance and stamina.
Bee pollen is a fine, powdery substance honeybees collect from flower anthers. It is mixed with bee saliva and nectar to form small granules carried back to the hive as a primary protein source for bee colonies. These granules are collected by beekeepers using specialized traps at the hive entrance.

Why is Bee Pollen healthy?
Local bee pollen may help the body become desensitized to local allergens. Consuming pollen from the same plants that trigger allergic reactions may help build tolerance over time. Although bee pollen from different regions provides nutritional benefits, local pollen is considered more effective for those suffering from seasonal allergies. Nature’s Uncut’s bee pollen is sourced from Northeastern Ohio.
Proteins, B vitamins, and enzymes: Support physical endurance and stamina.

  • Nutrient density: ideal for stamina and recovery during physical exertion. Supports cellular energy and antioxidant defenses.
  • Essential amino acids: Full-spectrum protein with B-complex vitamins.
  • Antioxidants: Flavonoids, carotenoids, enzymes, and trace minerals like selenium and zinc.
  • Environmental Allergens: Support normal immune activity that may reduce the risk of reactivity to allergens.

What are allergies or medication interactions associated with Bee Pollen?
Allergies: In rare cases, individuals with pollen allergies, hay fever, or bee sting sensitivities may experience allergic reactions to bee pollen, including itching, swelling, shortness of breath, or anaphylaxis. Bee pollen is not vegan, and as such, it may not be appropriate for individuals who follow a strict vegan diet.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Please consult with a health professional. It is not recommended for children under 1 year due to the risk of allergic reactions or potential contamination.

Medication Interactions:
Blood thinners or anticoagulants: Consult with a healthcare provider, as bee pollen may have mild blood-thinning effects.

What Does Bee Pollen Taste Like?

  • Floral – Mildly sweet and reminiscent of flowers or nectar.
  • Nutty – Earthy with a somewhat grainy, nut-like finish.
  • Bittersweet – Some varieties carry a bittersweet, herbal undertone.
  • Chewy-crunchy – Depending on the form, it may be chewy or slightly crunchy.

How can Bee Pollen be used?
Bee Pollen can be consumed as is in cold recipes. Heating bee pollen will degrade its structure and ruin some of its nutrients.

  • Sprinkled over yogurt, oatmeal, or smoothie bowls
  • Blended into smoothies or fresh juices
  • Mixed into energy balls or raw granola
  • Stirred into salad dressings or blended with honey

How much Bee Pollen is a serving size?
A typical serving size is 1 to 2 teaspoons daily, starting with a small amount, such as ¼ tsp, to assess tolerance. Up to 1 tablespoon daily may be used under professional guidance. Just like honey, do not give it to children under one year of age.

Does Bee Pollen need to be refrigerated?
Bee pollen should be refrigerated after opening to preserve its nutritional integrity, prevent moisture buildup, and extend shelf life. Freezing is also acceptable for long-term storage.

What is in Nature’s Uncut Bee Pollen?

“I have eczema and I get it all over and even on my face. I can use this oil on my face and it doesn’t affect my skin other than make it softer and much less irritated. I use it on dry patches on my body and they go away in days instead of weeks or months. The fact that this is a natural product makes me so happy. I am no longer using 3 to 5 different lotions. As I only need 1 now. Again, thank you so much.”
